Nintendo was first a card making company in 1889. As time moved by, they moved on to toys, then video games.

History[]

Nintendo was founded as a small business by Fusajiro Yamauchi called Nintendo Koppai. The company was in Kyoto Japan, and they made and marketed a card game called Hanafuda. The game seemed to become popular, and Yamauchi was forced to hire assistants to produce the cards in order to keep up with demand.

In 1983, Nintendo released the Famicom (shortend for Family Computer) in Japan. The Famicom game system was released in the United States in 1985 as the Nintendo Entertainment System (also known as the NES).
