Sega's Forth Generation Console was originally released in Japan on the 29th October, 1988. When it was released in the US, it was given the name Sega Genesis, but it kept the name Megadrive when released in Europe and numerous other places. After the End of the Fourth generation, Sega had sold over 45 Million Units Worldwide.
